Manhattan Building Will Rise in Glasgow

A ninety million pound commercial centre has received the go ahead for Glasgow’s city centre. Atlantic Square will include a hundred and thirty room quality Hotel, a conference centre and two office buildings. Developers, the Capella Group, are predicting it will dramatically change the district of Broomielaw Quay, previously one of the city’s most run down areas. The International Financial Services District (IFSD) is currently situated on at the site. A scheme which has had a billion pounds invested into it since 2001 and generated more than fifteen thousand jobs in the area. Where top UK companies, including Barclays Bank and Direct Line Insurance already have offices.

Jim Fitzsimons is chief exec for the Scottish development group proposing the project and he is believes the new centre, already nick named “Wall Street on The Clyde”, should create another two thousand five hundred jobs. Providing a further big boost for Glasgow’s city centre. Despite the UK’s economical down town, he is optimistic that companies still require the services of a complete office fitout and will be clambering to book the office space over the next year. Stating the centre is “better situated” than many other cities in the UK. Fitzsimmons feels that the plans will give rise to a new “Heart” for the district of Broomielaw.

It is hoped the new plans will build a commercial centre where people can work and relax. Hopefully, encouraging visitors and residents alike to spend time there. A health centre is also planned and the 227,000 square feet of office space available should expand upon the IFSD’s already successful commercial profile.
