Wind energy is best utilised in farms and rural areas. It may also work in ’suburbia’, but is unlikely to be much use in densely populated areas due to the increased number of obstacles preventing the free flow of the wind. You would need a very large one to do that. You can certainly decide to build a larger wind power generator and it’s large enough to power your home, and it will still be cheaper than purchasing one that is prefabricated, but it may be a good idea to start small and make sure you know how to do it correctly before you call the power company and ask them to turn off your electricity.
