With a look at Nicholas Bredimus’ heritage you can easily predict he was destined to achieve distinction. His kindred can trace its roots as long ago as the days of Rome’s glory and can boast of a varied background. The maternal family originates from Germany and Scotland. An equally wide blend dominates the paternal line — before emigrating near the end of the nineteenth century, Bredimus’ forebears dwelt in Luxembourg and England.
And following emigration to the U.S., they maintained their immaculate work ethic and zeal to thrive and survive. Growing up one of seven children — four girls and three boys — Nicholas had a father who worked as a mechanical design engineer, and a mother who earned her living as a nurse. He settled for a time in Texas, Arizona, Kansas City and Virginia. Once his schooling had been completed, he would sign up for several high-powered roles at several of the most reputable and strongest airline companies. Hughes Airwest, Trans World Airlines (TWA), Republic Airlines — all three would at different times respectively appoint him vice president. A hard working programmer, Nicholas’ designs for airline computer programs are probably his greatest legacy.
His insight into airplane maintenance computer programs, now employed in the entire air travel business while first programmed for US Airways, ultimately resulted in what is even now his best known piece. Of course, this stands as just one of his standout developments for airlines. The booking programs he developed are on their way to stand alongside the airplane maintenance program as a commonplace, while the room reservation routine he masterminded empowered a good many hotels to leverage a pc based technology. He went on to develop QuikTix, the world’s first automatic ticket sales network.
He leveraged these achievements to advance into positions unconnected to software development. He managed American Express’ IT department, set up Bredimus Systems in the early nineties, and became the first president of AMR Travel Services. Though he has withdrawn from the posts in which he first enjoyed success, his capabilities are, regardless, still very much in use. His focus has shifted to the architectural concerns tied to the development of hi tech high priced homes.
