Playing Freerolls
Everybody loves free online poker tournaments. Not only are they ways to make free money or bonus spots online, but they are also a chance to try out new moves or tactics in a field of players for no cost. In a way, among fields where the freeroll players take the game seriously, there is no better time to try to expand your game and make moves you normally wouldn’t, to see how they can apply to your regular games for real stakes.
One of the problems about freerolls is that often, precisely because they are free, players take them as spots to throw around their chips. Early on in these tournaments you will often see players throwing their chips around fast and quickly, trying to build a big stack or go bust. After this phase of players has boiled off, though, often the fields settle down and start playing quality poker. This is where you want to be.
Just like any other poker tournament, a freeroll should be respected as a facet of the game. If you don’t respect the game, you can’t expect the game to respect you, no?
