When to Send Your Wedding Invitation
Unlike in the past, today’s couples are beginning their wedding planning up to almost two years before the event itself. The size of your guest list will impact the rest of your plans. You should start considering wedding invitations as soon as details such as the guest list, and the place and time of the ceremony and reception, have been determined.
You should start looking at what types of wedding invitations you want to send out as soon as possible. The invitations you send yo your guests provide insight to the theme of the wedding. You should give yourself lots of time to send out your wedding invitations by ordering them at a minimum of three months prior to your wedding day.
Generally speaking, it is recommended to send out your wedding invitations a couple months prior to when the ceremony is scheduled. Some special circumstances require you to send out invitations even further ahead of your big event. For weddings that are planned on our around a major holiday, the invitations should be mailed out to guests even earlier to allow them time to adjust holiday plans as needed. For a wedding that features a theme, you should mail out your invites sooner to allow guests to prepare accordingly. The wedding invitation provides your intended guests with their initial glimpse into the type of ceremony they can expect. Sending the invitations as early as you can will allow the guests all the time they need to prepare.
Sending wedding invitations in advance give you more time to plan the rest of your wedding. RSVP information is useful for the caterers if they will need to adjust the amount of food, or might mean that you can add guests who would not fit into the initial count.
Those guests that need to travel any sort of long distance to attend you wedding should also receive their invitations in plenty of time.
